An Experience of a Lifetime

Routes & Horizons Africa is designed to be more than a collection of excursions. It is twelve days of experiencing the continent from city to savanna, from conversation to coastline, and from land to sea.

There is wildlife and history. There is beautiful food and extraordinary scenery. There are moments of celebration and moments that ask us to slow down and listen. And woven through all of it are the people traveling beside you.

For those who have dreamed of experiencing Africa, this is an opportunity to do it thoughtfully, comfortably, and in community.

Come curious. Come ready to experience something different. Come ready to make memories.

DAYS 1 TO 5 · JUNE 15 TO JUNE 19, 2027

Nairobi

Your journey begins in Nairobi, a city where contemporary African life, business, culture, cuisine, and extraordinary natural landscapes exist side by side.

Settle into a carefully selected five-star hotel and ease into the rhythm of the journey. Over the days ahead, Nairobi unfolds through a thoughtful mix of wildlife, food, conversation, creativity, and connection.

You will experience Kenya's remarkable animals in two distinctly different settings, enjoy memorable culinary moments, explore local craftsmanship, and spend time in private conversation with founders, investors, and cultural leaders who are helping shape the region's future.

The Nairobi experience also brings the spirit of The Cohort Collective to life through a signature gathering centered on meaningful conversation, shared discovery, and connection — with an elegant Dress to Impress Gala and a beautifully hosted sit-down dinner creating one of the most special moments of our time together.

There will also be room to simply enjoy where you are. Time to linger over a beautiful meal. Time to rest. Time for photographs, laughter, spontaneous conversation, and the kind of connection that happens naturally when people experience something meaningful together.

Nothing is meant to feel rushed. The goal is to experience Nairobi through more than what you see — through what you taste, who you meet, what you learn, and the moments you share along the way.

  • Five-star accommodations in Nairobi
  • Guided wildlife experiences
  • A close-up conservation and wildlife experience
  • Thoughtfully selected culinary experiences
  • Kenyan craftsmanship and locally made goods
  • Private conversations with local founders, investors, and cultural leaders
  • A signature Cohort Collective gathering of conversation and shared discovery
  • An elegant Dress to Impress Gala with a hosted sit-down dinner
  • Shared meals and memorable dining experiences
  • Time for rest, reflection, and connection

Nairobi sets the tone for everything that follows — a beginning filled with discovery, thoughtful experiences, meaningful conversation, and the first connections that will continue to deepen throughout the journey.

DAYS 6 TO 8 · JUNE 20 TO JUNE 22, 2027

Zanzibar · The Coast

From Nairobi, the journey moves to Zanzibar and the Indian Ocean. The pace changes almost immediately.

Our home for this chapter is a carefully selected upscale beachfront hotel, where ocean views, warm water, beautiful surroundings, and slower mornings invite you to experience the island differently.

These days balance planned experiences with genuine leisure — breakfast overlooking the water, swimming, photography, coastal exploration, music, shared meals, and simply being present.

The island introduces us to another rhythm through carefully chosen experiences along the coast, including an evening shaped by sunset, music, and local energy, as well as a guided water-based experience that reveals another side of Zanzibar.

And because rest is part of the journey too, there is room to enjoy the hotel, the beach, and one another without feeling as though every hour must be filled.

  • Short flight from Nairobi to Zanzibar
  • Upscale beachfront accommodations
  • Oceanfront mornings and time to swim
  • Beautiful coastal photography opportunities
  • A sunset experience with island entertainment
  • A guided water-based experience
  • Shared meals and relaxed evenings
  • Time intentionally reserved for rest and reflection

This chapter is about allowing yourself to slow down — enjoying Zanzibar as much through its atmosphere as through its itinerary.

DAYS 9 TO 11 · JUNE 23 TO JUNE 25, 2027

Historic Zanzibar · Sea, Culture & Island Life

The final chapter takes us into the historic heart of Zanzibar, where centuries of African, Arab, Indian, and European influence have shaped the architecture, food, trade, culture, and identity of the island.

We settle into a carefully selected luxury waterfront hotel and experience Zanzibar from both land and sea.

Time in the historic center allows us to encounter the architecture, stories, and cultural layers that have shaped this part of the island. From there, the journey moves onto the Indian Ocean for a privately arranged sailing experience combining open water, a beautiful sandbank, island exploration, and time together at sea.

Another day takes us beyond the historic center to explore Zanzibar's deep relationship with spices and agriculture before continuing toward another beautiful stretch of coastline.

There will also be opportunities to engage with difficult and important chapters of Zanzibar's history. These experiences are approached with respect and context, recognizing that understanding a place means making room for both its beauty and its history.

The days are intentionally varied. Water. History. Food. Agriculture. Culture. Coastline. Conversation. Together, they create a fuller picture of the island and its story.

  • Luxury waterfront accommodations
  • Time exploring Zanzibar's historic center
  • A private sailing experience on the Indian Ocean
  • Sandbank and island exploration
  • A guided spice and agricultural experience
  • Cultural and historical learning
  • Time along Zanzibar's coastline
  • Carefully selected dining experiences
  • Shared moments of reflection and connection

DAY 12 · JUNE 26, 2027

The Journey Home

On our final morning, we prepare for the journey home.

Twelve days earlier, many of us will have arrived knowing some members of the group well, others only a little, and perhaps some not at all.

We leave having shared meals, wildlife, ocean mornings, conversations, history, adventure, laughter, quiet moments, and a piece of Africa together.

  • Depart Zanzibar
  • Return home with new memories, new perspectives, and deeper connections

The itinerary ends here. The relationships do not have to.

The Experience

Signature moments.

Curated Wildlife Encounters

Experience Kenya's extraordinary wildlife through thoughtfully selected encounters that allow us to observe, learn, and better understand the country's natural environment.

Conversations with Local Leaders

Private conversations with local founders, investors, and cultural leaders offering insight into the ideas, opportunities, businesses, culture, and changes shaping the region.

These gatherings are designed for genuine dialogue — an opportunity to listen, ask questions, exchange perspectives, and experience conversations that go beyond the traditional visitor experience.

The Cohort Collective Experience

The journey is not simply about traveling through beautiful places. Throughout our time together, The Cohort Collective creates space for thoughtful conversation, new perspectives, shared experiences, and relationships that have time to develop naturally.

In Nairobi, that spirit comes together through a signature gathering and an elegant Dress to Impress Gala, complete with a beautifully hosted sit-down dinner and an atmosphere designed to make the occasion feel truly special.

Food as an Experience

Food becomes part of how we understand each destination. From fresh, locally influenced cuisine in Nairobi to coastal flavors and island dining in Zanzibar, thoughtfully selected meals give us another way to experience place, culture, and one another.

Beach Retreat Living

Slow mornings. Warm Indian Ocean water. Beautiful surroundings. Time to swim, rest, talk, and enjoy being exactly where you are.

Private Sailing & Island Exploration

Take to the Indian Ocean for a privately arranged sailing experience combining beautiful water, sandbank exploration, island scenery, and time together at sea.

Spice, Culture & Historic Towns

Experience the agriculture, architecture, traditions, and history that have shaped Zanzibar over generations.

Time Together

Some of the most meaningful moments may never appear on an itinerary.

Breakfast conversations.

A long dinner.

Sitting beside the ocean.

Laughing during the ride between experiences.

Asking someone a question and realizing two hours later that you are still talking.

Meeting someone you did not know before the journey began — and leaving with a relationship that may continue long after you return home.

We are intentionally creating room for those moments too.
